The Ketosis diet has been a major fad lately focusing on eating large amounts of fat, low carbs and some protein (around 20% of calories taken in) in order to lose weight. We are starting to find out that the ketosis diet also naturally Increase NAD+ in our system as well.
Combine that with the fact that a lot of borderline diabetes patients start on the ketosis diet to reverse the effects and it starts to paint an interesting picture of nutrition.
Regardless, it can naturally raise NAD levels so it’s worth checking out.
It’s important to note that not all fats are created equal. Far from it!
There are three major types of fat you will find on your standard label but the main fat source to stay away from is the dreaded Saturated Fat.
But that does not mean you should stay away from all fats. If you take the time to put your body into Ketosis with good fat sources you will start to notice that you feel like you have more energy and also have more mental clarity.
I was truly shocked to realize how easy it was to change my diet.
Perhaps I should not have been, Chia pudding for breakfast (delicious), Avacado and Sardines in a Pure Wrap for lunch (admittedly sardines are not for everyone but I love the little guys!) and a nice fish for dinner with a heaping plate of veggies.
Also, if you are a burger fan or just love the taste of a steak try switching to buffalo meat! You would be surprised how many good fats are hiding in this super meat.

Wait? You’re kidding me? Diet and exercise are good for you?
Obviously, physical exercise is good for you and for a lot of reasons but this is definitely a big one and it kind of makes sense doesn’t it?
The more physically fit a person is normally the younger they look. So if you want to increase the DNA Rebuilding and Mitochondrial Pumping protein naturally then you will need to hit the gym.
So why does it raise NAD+ levels?Necessity! The more you body works out the more NAD Plus it needs in order to produce energy.
Basically, you put your Mitochondria into overdrive.
You keep working out and your body keeps needing to produce more and more energy which means it needs more NAD.
But you are not running a marathon every day! So what happens in the down times?
Your body is not going to just stop producing more NAD Plus because you don’t need it at the time which means you have Naturally Increase NAD+ levels in your body in quite possibly the best way for you.
Saunas and Heat Exposure Naturally increase NAD+
After some testing, it was showing that saunas and heat exposure have been linked to Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide increases which is one I did not expect to make this list.
This is interesting as well because people with extreme joint and muscle pain from conditions like Fibromyalgia experience exhaustion when exposed to colder temperatures in some cases. Right now it could just be speculation but it is possible that a significant decrease in NAD Plus could lead to Fibromyalgia.

Lastly, Bring something to pass the time. I recommend getting a few audiobooks on your phone or get a kindle. Just make sure not to bring those into the steam room or we will revisit regretting life choices!
Fermented foods and Beverages can naturally increase NAD+
Fermented foods and beverages like Kimchi, Kombucha or anything else that goes through the chemical process of fermentation by exposure to lactobacilli contain a small amount of NAD in them as a byproduct. Yet another natural process that has a hidden fountain of youth in it.
This is a very interesting topic to me because there has been a lot of buzz around gluten and it’s evil properties.
And for the more part, I agree. Gluten may as well strut around with horns and a pitchfork as far as I am concerned.
But one thing that is so interesting is that when gluten sensitive people (not celiac) eat fermented sourdough bread, which is the original way of bread making, they feel little to no negative effects.
All of the bloating and joint pain vanishes and they still get to nom on warm tasty bread! Pretty Awesome! If you are gluten sensitive (once again not celiac) you may want to look into this method of bread making. Warm bread may be in your future which is a pretty tasty way to Naturally Increase NAD Plus levels as far as I am concerned.
Going Hungry can Naturally Raise NAD Levels
Decreases in calories cause your system to run our of NADH and then build up NAD+. This may be the reason why the “fasting diets” such as the wolverine diet and others like it (8 hours of eating 16 of fasting) can lead heavy weight loss and muscle building.
This is due to shock. If you have ever been a server or a waiter then you know what is like to experience a lunch or dinner rush.
Basically, as far as your body is concerned, it’s like combining the lunch and dinner rush into one mega holy crap event.
This shocks your mitochondria into overdrive and makes your body began producing more NAD+ because it needs a way to deal with the food it desperately has been waiting for.
So this is an easy way to Naturally Increase NAD+in your body by only changing when you eat. Not how.
